BXSea Oceanarium Establishes International Partnership with Japan’s YO-GYO Aquarium for Marine Biota Conservation

Bintaro, May 2026 – BXSea Oceanarium has officially announced an international partnership with the YO-GYO Aquarium, a Japanese aquarium institution, to strengthen its commitment to marine biota conservation and education.

This partnership stems from a significant meeting in Japan on March 15, 2026, where both parties were united by a shared vision: to safeguard the sustainability of marine life through collaboration grounded in shared knowledge, goals, and responsibility.

As a tangible expression of this trust, the YO-GYO Aquarium has officially granted a biological donation to BXSea. This grant is not merely a symbol of cooperation, but also a representation of a long-term commitment to supporting global conservation efforts.

One of the species entrusted to BXSea includes several baby Pot-bellied Seahorses, which became part of the BXSea Oceanarium’s Conservation Zone on April 23, 2026. The presence of these species is expected to serve as an educational tool for visitors regarding the importance of protecting marine ecosystems from an early age.

Through this collaboration, BXSea reaffirms its role not only as a recreational destination but also as a hub for learning and conservation that brings a positive impact to future generations.

BXSea believes that the future of marine biota is a collective responsibility. With the spirit of cross-country collaboration, it is hoped that the small steps taken today will lead to significant changes for the sustainability of marine life in the future.

"Alhamdulillah, BXSea Oceanarium, under the management of PT Jaya Real Property Tbk, has the opportunity to establish a conservation partnership with YO-GYO Aquarium Japan. Through this collaboration, BXSea has received a grant of Pot-bellied Seahorses, which are now located in the Seahorse Empires area of BXSea. We hope the presence of these creatures will further enrich the educational experience, provide a new attraction for visitors, and serve as proof of our commitment to supporting conservation efforts," explained Sri Agung, Unit Manager of BXSea.

This partnership will be officially inaugurated on June 13, 2026, with the attendance of Koji Ishikagi, Director of Blue Corner Inc. YO-GYO Aquarium Japan. On this occasion, BXSea Oceanarium and YO-GYO Aquarium will sign an official cooperation agreement alongside the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) as part of a collaboration in the development of marine education and conservation.

Response from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries

The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries welcomes the partnership between BXSea Oceanarium and Japan's YO-GYO Aquarium. This cooperation is considered an opportunity to strengthen national capacity through the exchange of knowledge and technology, particularly in the breeding and maintenance of species within the context of aquarium education developed by the YO-GYO Aquarium. This collaboration is also important for encouraging the application of international standards in maintenance, animal health, and genetic management.

This was conveyed directly to BXSea on April 30, 2026, by the Director General of Marine Management and Director of Species and Genetic Conservation, Sarmintohadi.

"Cross-border partnerships like this are excellent and can contribute significantly to the sustainability of marine ecosystems through knowledge exchange, human resource capacity building, and the strengthening of conservation networks. We hope BXSea can optimally perform its role as a center for marine biota education and conservation by prioritizing animal welfare principles and compliance with applicable regulations in Indonesia. Furthermore, BXSea is expected to contribute to national conservation programs through research activities, public education, rehabilitation facilities, and breeding programs. BXSea is expected to be more than just a place of recreation; it should become a learning center capable of fostering public awareness and understanding of marine ecosystems," said Sarmintohadi, Director General of Marine Management and Director of Species and Genetic Conservation.
